Parenthood for Dummies
Being a father is a wild ride. My name is Christopher & these are my observations, theories & comments on life as the dad of my two boys Ripley & Jayden. I write this to air my thoughts & update my friends & family with photos, videos and such like. For everyone else I offer hints and tips on parenting as I learn them. For legal reasons I make no direct reference to my employer or any of my colleagues.

Getting old
Yesterday I walked past guildfest rock and roll extraveganza and went to the steam engine show. It was very good :)

First word
Typical - as I whizz through the French countryside Pen rings to tell me he has just said his first word -
Dada
In fact he has been repeating it for the last 2 hours. Fantastic! I jokingly said before I left that he will probably say his first word while I am away - and would you believe he did! - Chris
8 month update
What's new - well - things change so fast, his development is like a runaway train. He has 4 or 5 teeth now. He is crawling well, i.e looking less like action man crawling under barbed wire. He climbs and holds himself up on 2 feet, usually against the sofa. He has started baby talk again after regressing to incoherent screaming for a couple of months. He said dada yesterday but I think it was a fluke.

Hey man (now you're really living) by The Eels
Climbing up stuff
Pinching my nose (because it makes an amusing "ow" noise)
Mirrors (still)
Rain
Baths (specifically splashing)
Me waving to him when he is being carried to bed

Hates:
Loud and sudden noises
Going to bed
This little motorised octopus bath toy
Anyone suddenly leaving the room
He is great and Penny is doing a fantastic job keeping him happy and healthy plus (most importantly) keeping herself motivated and happy with fragmented sleep.
Sadly I am on a train at the moment bound for London Waterloo, then onto the Eurostar to Paris for a few days (a work thing). I am sad to leave again but I will be home soon. I enjoy travel I just prefer to do it with my family :( oh well not long.
